Ukraine is one of the largest markets in Europe with vast territory and population. The country’s potential in, ICT and telecommunications, agriculture and its demand for energy and environmental technology offer dozens of business opportunities for Swedish companies.

Today Ukraine is a developing country with ambitions to become a respectable player on the European market. Ukrainian inclinations towards the West have significantly increased in 2014, and the signing of the Association Agreement between the EU and Ukraine has facilitated trade relations in the region. On January 1, 2016, the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement between the EU and Ukraine came into force, opening markets, cutting tariffs, and bringing the Ukraine's rules in line with the EU's which has already had its effect on trade – in the Q12016 Sweden’s export to Ukraine has grown 41%.
Sweden and Ukraine have a centuries-long history of relations and fruitful trade. Swedish exports to Ukraine have been stably growing during the last years. In 2015 Swedish export to Ukraine has grown 20% and amounted to over 2 million Swedish crowns. On the contrary, Ukrainian exports to Sweden also increased by 20% in 2015.

Business Sweden has been operating in Ukraine since 1994. Our office is located in the old part of Kyiv, Ukraine's capital. The official currency in the country is Ukrainian hryvnia, and in most places the payments could be made by card. The official language is Ukrainian, but people understand Russian equally well, and in cities many speak fluent English. Ukraine implemented visa-free entry for Swedes for trips up to 90 days during half year.

Business Sweden's extensive network and experience makes us an asset for Swedish companies. We also work closely with trade associations, embassies and consulates around the world. Contact us and we will tell you more about Ukraine as an export market and how Business Sweden can support you with advice, market analysis, contacts and other services that can be of help when establishing a presence in the country.
