When the Philippines was hit by the typhoon Haiyan in November 2013, one of the worst measured tropical cyclones in history, Sweden was one of the countries offering state financial support as well as private aid. Business Sweden arranged in November 2014 a delegation with Swedish companies who presented and shared their knowledge and solutions regarding long-term risk management to aid-organisations in the Philippines.
Another delegation was organised to Manila in December 2015 in order to deepen relations between Swedish companies and aid-organisations such as UNDP, Philippines Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF) and Local Climate Change Adaptation for Development (LCCAD). The delegation focused on increased disaster planning for the. Through a workshop and seminars, Swedish companies and Philippine actors could exchange experiences and learn from each other regarding the subject disaster-management. Additionally, it was possible to discuss potential areas of cooperation such as electricity supply, emergency housing, health and hygiene, and lifesaving.
