During the past years the Baltic states have been gradually increasing security related expenditure due to the changes in the geopolitical situation. The Baltic governments plan larger investments in border security, cyber security and other areas.

Estonia is one of the few countries that has had the level of 2% GDP expenditure on defence, while Latvia and Lithuania have recently climbed towards the 2% GDP limit and even consider reaching 2,5% of GDP in the years to come.

All three Baltic countries are modernizing and equipping border guard, civil rescue services and police.
