Round-table Discussion on Anti-corruption with Swedish Life Science companies and Bengt Johansson, CSR Ambassador of Sweden

Summary of the discussion

• The term CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) sometimes has different meaning in Sweden and China. China is influenced by the American definition which is more about philanthropy ware’s in Sweden and in Europe CSR included the topic of anti-corruption as well as doing good for the society.

• Mr. Johansson mentioned that CSR is not worth anything if there is corruption.

• We concluded that laws and rules are in place in China but there aren’t any boundaries by the industry, governmental officials therefore there is corruption within the health care sector. The anti-corruption campaign introduced last year is welcomed but the results of it has not yet been fully shown. What has been displayed is that the anti-corruption campaign is mainly targeting international corporations.

• Swedish practice on anti-corruption: Sweden has the oldest institute against anti-corruption, useful links: www.lif.se , www.institutetmotmutor.se
