On the 19 April, a CSR meeting was held in Shanghai at the office of Business Sweden regarding the development of a CSR City pilot project. Seven participants from six different Swedish companies attended the meeting as well as representatives from the CSR Centre at the Embassy of Beijing, the Consulate General of Sweden in Shanghai and Business Sweden. The CSR City Pilot project is run by the CSR Centre at the Embassy in Beijing with support from Business Sweden and the SSB in China program.
The meeting started with some welcoming words from Hanna Elving, project manager at Business Sweden and head of the SSB project and Anders Wollter, head of the CSR Centre. Next, Anna Kiefer, project manager at CSR Centre, introduced the CSR Centre and the CSR City Pilot Project. She presented the vision of the project and what challenges and solutions there are with CSR in China today. After this, there was a workshop session where the company representatives wrote letters from the future, identifying the progresses within CSR the last years. This was then shared within the group and there was a discussion on how to reach these goals in the future. The discussions were good and the group identified some key issues that have to be addressed, both from company side and from the official side in China to reach this ideal CSR practices.
Next, CSR Centre presented the candidate cities chosen for the CSR City Pilot Project and the participants got a chance to comment on these and also leave their vote for their preferred city. Once again the discussions pinpointed some important aspects and the company representatives showed a great interest in the matter.
More company reference group meetings will take place in Beijing and Hong Kong and follow-up sessions presenting the progress and next steps within the project will be organized later this year.
