CSR Forum with Shanghai University, 20 January

On the 20th of January, the Swedish Sustainable Business in China project participated in the realization of a CSR Forum held for MBA students of Shanghai University. The Consul General of Sweden in Shanghai, Ms. Viktoria Li, was key note speaker of the event and she spoke about Swedish environmental initiatives and the Swede´s willingness to contribute a sustainable society and how this affects the Swedish companies working with sustainability. Ms. Hanna Elving, head of the SSB, presented the project and what challenges Swedish companies meet on the Chinese market.

The following panel discussion started off with discussions on how China is working with CSR and in which way the city of Shanghai can improve their environmental and sustainability efforts. One reoccurring issue during the discussions was the importance of changing people’s attitude towards taking more personal responsibility for the environment and the society. The need for education and understanding at an early age was considered crucial for a society to change.

During the Forum, Ms. Viktoria Li was also appointed Honorary Professor of the Shanghai University´s MBA Center.
