An increasing number of people are affected by disasters and conflicts around the world, hence global humanitarian efforts now have a turnover of several billion SEK. There is a major need for new, innovative and relevant sustainable solutions with the ability to increase the effectiveness and durability of operations in all dimensions.
Actors such as the UN, multilateral organizations and bilateral donors operate all over the world and their work includes projects and initiatives which promotes a better world.
The UN is acting both reactive, yet even more importantly through preventive actions to promote peace and security, human rights, economic and social development for better standards of living, democracy and equality, as well as international relations. The UN’s work is extensive and of great importance for a sustainable global development.
Multilateral organizations (such as the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank) are cooperating with bilateral donors through prioritized projects in order to mitigate the effects of climate change and natural disasters. The target groups for these projects are international organizations and/or agencies and possibly federal states that receive funding from international organizations for initiatives within the climate adaptation and disaster area.
