Pharma Consulting Group (PCG) provides IT solutions for conducting clinical trials in pharmaceutical / biotech companies and contract research organisations (CRO). The company was founded in 2003 by two experienced contract research organisation professionals in Uppsala and has since experienced strong growth. Now their business has successfully expanded globally. Their system is used at over 4,800 facilities in more than 50 countries.
PCG began looking at opportunities in the Japanese market in 2007 for their first international expansion. Business Sweden conducted a Business Opportunity Project (BOP) in 2008 with the primary objective to set up meetings with pharmaceutical companies and CROs in Japan in order for PCG to present their system Viedoc. The turnout was 40 potential customers, which resulted in a total of 17 successful meetings in Japan.

Business Support Office for local presence
PCG Japan started with one local employee in 2010 and expanded thereafter by hiring several technical specialists. The company rented an office space at Business Swedens facilities in Tokyo between September 2010 and February 2014. The company eventually grew too big for this office as the business in Japan expanded further, but they have continued to use Business Sweden’s Business Support Office services for accounting support and HR/Payroll.
At this moment, PCG Japan is headed by Mr. Kai Eriksson and his six team members.
