MTO´s collaboration with Business Sweden has facilitated market intelligence and networks to promote MTO’s safety training offerings focusing on the railway sector in South Africa.

MTO’s training services aim to achieve systems for safety and efficient interaction between humans, technology and organisation for management of risks and hazards to prevent accident and damage as well as preventing production disturbances in various sectors such as railway. MTO is based in Stockholm and supply qualified services with a team of experienced consultants with expertise in the areas of behavioural science, cognitive psychology, human factors engineering, work- and organisational psychology, information technology and computer science.

Business Sweden´s (BuS) relationship with MTO started in 2015 when BuS organized transport delegation to Sweden for South African and Swedish transport related companies where the South African safety regulator (RSR) and MTO established their first business relation. Later the same year Business Sweden organized a business forum in conjunction to the Binational Commission in Stockholm where MTO had further business discussions with additional South African transport stakeholders. During the discussions and engagement with South African stakeholders MTO identified potential business opportunities for their service offering which led to an interest in getting a deeper understanding of the business potential in South Africa.

In 2016 Business Sweden assisted MTO with a Business Opportunity Project (BOP) with the purpose of increasing MTO´s market understanding focusing on the railway sector, identification of customers/partners and to strengthened business dialogues and establish contacts with key stakeholders in the industry such as RSR and others.

Through the Business Opportunity Project MTO gained a deeper understanding of the market potential and they also managed to win a business deal with RSR and will in June 2016 have a number of safety training sessions in South Africa which will hopefully lead to a future continuation. MTO is also considering establishing a local entity and identify a local partner to assist them in growing the business to another level.

“Business Sweden supported MTO in South Africa, with local market knowledge and networks which resulted in their first business deal on the market”, comments by Maria Nordstrom, Consultant, Business Sweden.

“This is the first time we are working together with Business Sweden and we are very pleased with the support given by Business Sweden. The collaboration has been fruitful and very valuable for us and we are looking forward to future support in order to win more deals”, comments by Lena Kecklund, CEO, MTO AB.
