an image
Metrum’s collaboration with Business Sweden has facilitated market intelligence and networks to promote Metrum’s power quality solutions for the energy sector in sub-Saharan Africa.

Metrum’s solutions aim to achieve a sustainable electricity grid in Africa

Metrum develops and globally markets unique system solutions for measurement of energy, disturbances and faults in the area of power quality and corresponding applications. With a global presence, Metrum develops the next generation module based system solutions for measuring energy, power and power quality.

Business Sweden Johannesburg has an ongoing collaboration with Metrum. The relationship started with Metrum’s participation in energy delegation in Southern Africa, followed by a market selection analysis and stakeholder management. The stakeholder management was important for Metrum to engage with key personnel and decision makers at the power utilities in the region.

“Business Sweden was able to map the planning and procurement process for the utilities for power quality projects and actively promote Metrum’s solutions”, Shaan Padayachy, Associate, Business Sweden.

Metrum, a partner for Zambia in modernizing the electricity grid

Metrum requested Business Sweden to assist with engaging with the management of the utilities in Zambia to better position Metrum for planned projects. As result, the Copperbelt Energy Corporation (CEC), a private power transmission and distribution company focused on the mines in the north of Zambia has appointed Metrum as a supplier of power quality instruments and software. Zesco, the largest power company in Zambia has also started to use Metrum as a supplier of power quality instruments.

“Business Sweden supported Metrum in Zambia, with local networks and managing relations and this resulted in Metrum being awarded a power quality contract by CEC”, comments Ruth Phiri, Consultant, Business Sweden.

“Business Sweden has been our partner in assisting us to explore and capture the opportunity in Zambia. This collaboration has been a fruitful one and we look forward to it continuing in other African markets ”, Magnus Andersson, CEO, Metrum Sweden AB.
