Out of 600 international companies, about half has invested in increased manufacturing in Sweden during the last three years – often in direct competition with foreign countries. Among them are Atlas Copco, Husqvarna and Uddeholm. This is shown in Business Sweden’s report “Därför tillverkar vi i Sverige”.
The report illustrates the high importance of the manufacturing industry in Sweden, the geographical pattern within the industry as well as Sweden’s preconditions and ability to locate manufacturing operations. The report also shows a number of improvement areas that the interviewed companies and organisations have raised.
”The cost advantages of manufacturing in low cost countries goes away over time”
"Därför tillverkar vi i Sverige" is based on interviews with executives at 20 international companies that during the last three years have made substantial investments in Sweden, a survey with 600 companies manufacturing in Sweden, interviews with executives at 12 foreign companies about Sweden as a manufacturing country, and interviews with predecessors at industry-related organisations in Sweden.
