SAUDI ARABIA: MIDDLE EAST’S LARGEST HEALTH CARE MARKET IN CHANGE
With one of the world’s 20 largest economies and an annual health care spending of 35 bn USD, Saudi Arabia offers the largest market for health care and life science products in the MENA region. Saudi Arabia has over the past 10 years gone through one of the largest public health care expansions in the world to a value of 6,7 bn USD
Growing and aging population, as well as an increasing prevalence of life-style related diseases are the key drivers of the Saudi health care market. Improving the health care sector is a key priority for the Saudi government and the country’s economic development strategy, Vision 2030, includes several reforms and investment initiatives for this end. Despite lower oil revenues, Saudi Arabia is determined to prioritize its health care sector with substantial investments and the government currently seeks to achieve higher efficiency through Public-Private Partnerships (PPP).
