Seminar about prevention and management of stroke in the UK and Sweden

Business Sweden, in collaboration with the Embassy of Sweden in London, invites you to a half day seminar and networking activity addressing stroke prevention and cardiac monitoring, 22 January 2014. The seminar “Prevention and Management of Stroke - Today and Tomorrow” provides a unique opportunity to present your healthcare solutions to, and discuss with, executive level industry stakeholders, new and existing customers, public authorities, research institutions and policymakers from Sweden and the UK.

Stroke prevention is a national priority in the UK

  • Stroke is one of the top three causes of death and the largest cause of adult disability in England
  • The Department of Health is prioritising stroke prevention and follow-up on stroke patients
  • In 2012, the House of Commons commissioned a report on preventing stroke and improving stroke care and has assembled a group addressing these issues
  • The NHS seeks to reduce the number of Atrial Fibrillation related strokes through improved detection, diagnosis and appropriate management of arrhythmias

The seminar will focus on current issues in the UK and Sweden

 

  • Showcasing Swedish innovations, technology and best practice in stroke prevention and management
  • Highlighting examples of British and Swedish national initiatives for improved detection, diagnosis and appropriate patient management
  • Increasing awareness of current methods and available solutions among key opinion leaders, care providers and decision makers
  • Strengthening the dialogue and knowledge exchange between Sweden and the UK regarding challenges and solutions for stroke management and prevention
  • Discussing selected topics such as incentives for stroke prevention in primary and secondary care, screening of high risk patient groups and clinical decision support for stroke prevention
