Business Sweden invites Swedish suppliers to meet industry leaders in the dynamic Mexico and U.S. automotive sectors at matchmaking events this fall. Participate in the U.S. passenger car industry’s resurgence and the Mexican vehicle sector’s rapid expansion
As NAFTA partners, the American and Mexican auto sectors are closely integrated with many OEMs manufacturing in both markets. In fact, in 2012, 80% of Mexican vehicles exports were aimed for the U.S.. Both markets are important globally, as the U.S is currently the world’s fifth largest vehicle producer and Mexico is the eight largest combining for 7 million vehicles annually. Additionally, many of the world’s largest automotive companies have influential procurement personnel based in the U.S.
Recovered after the recession, U.S. automobile production is expected to grow by 5.5% annually to 2016 while Mexico’s local auto part production in Mexico is expected to increase by 20% until 2014, as Nissan, Honda, Mazda/Toyota, Audi and Chrysler Fiat open new plants in the country.
Swedish suppliers are strong in the European market but there is potential for growth in terms of North American exports that are not fully exploited today. Sweden is considered strong in several high-demand segments by North American OEMs and Tier 1-2 suppliers, including the areas of vehicle safety, manufacturing and production systems, and telematics and electronics (e.g. warning systems, infotainment), among others.
U.S. and Mexico matchmaking events
Business Sweden will arrange matchmaking events in the two markets bringing together interested OEMs and suppliers looking to meet innovative Swedish suppliers. We will first present interested Swedish companies to OEMs and Tier 1 and 2 suppliers in a catalogue, allowing participants to market themselves to American and Mexican industry leaders. During one week selected Swedish companies will participate in events in the U.S. and Mexico. The matchmaking events will allow Swedish suppliers to present their offerings to the interested companies in both markets as well as government officials and associations in Mexico.
