Preliminary Program

Preliminary program for the Middle East & North Africa Summit 2013 in Dubai

Day One: Wednesday October 9

After a welcoming speech by Minister for Trade - Dr. Ewa Björling, the first day continues with presentations by renowned experts, giving their view on the political, social and economic situation in the region. This is followed by smaller workshops addressing topics related to selected countries, including:

  • Challenges and Opportunities in a time of sanctions and instability
    Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon

  • Establishments / Freezones and hubs in the region
    UAE, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Egypt

  • North Africa - Political Turmoil and New Opportunities
    Egypt, Algeria, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia

  • GCC - From oil to knowledge based economies
    Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain

The workshops are carried out in the presence of and collaboration with Swedish Ambassadors from the whole region - from Rabat to Tehran.

Day Two: Thursday October 10

Success cases open the second day as stories from the region of fruitful business provide inspiration. After this delegates are invited to take part in sector-specific workshops such as:

  • Information & Communication Technology – Connectivity

  • Health and Life Science – SymbioCare Infection Control

  • Energy – The Energy Mix of Today and Tomorrow

  • Transport – Traffic Safety & Sustainability
