Preliminary programme for the delegation to UN in East Africa. Kenya, Uganda, South Sudan, 3-7 february 2014.

19 - 20 May

Learn to know the UN Procurement in Entebbe & Kampala and the business opportunities

  • Arrival Entebbe previous night or early morning

  • UN Procurement Division’s Regional Procurement Office
    - Handling procurement for all Peace keeping missions and Political Missions in East & Central Africa

  • Pre-arranged match-making meetings with UNICEF, UNDP, WFP, WB and AfDB and other agencies residing in Uganda

  • Dinner at the ambassador´s residence with representatives from UN, NGO:s and the business community in Uganda

21 - 22 May

Meeting with banks, NGO’s and implementing partners in Nairobi, Kenya

  • WB, AfDB, OXFAM, ICRC, Kenya Red Cross, Danish Refugee Council, Catholic Relief Services, Save the Children and other partners to the United Nations

  • Procurement with the UN, from the perspective of the implementing partner, and on-going/up-coming projects

  • Pre-arranged match-making meetings with UN-HABITAT, UNON, UNDP, UNICEF, UNHCR, IOM, WHO, UNSOA, Kenya Red Cross and other agencies residing in Kenya.

  • Mingle/cocktail with implementing partners, UN officials and prominent Kenyan business people at the Swedish ambassador’s Residence.

Optional:  23 May

Field visit to Juba, South Sudan

  • Morning flight from Nairobi to Juba

  • Visit to the field mission UNMISS – United Nations Mission in the Republic of South Sudan headquarters

  • Meetings with UNOPS, FAO and other UN agencies residing in South Sudan

  • Return to Nairobi in late afternoon/early evening

PLEASE NOTE: The day in South Sudan will be confirmed closer to the date and will depend on if the security situation in the country allows or safe travel of the delegation.
