26 May - 28 May Erbil, Iraq

Swedish Pavilion at Iraq Medicare

Business Sweden, in collaboration with the Embassy of Sweden in Baghdad invites you to participate in the official Swedish pavilion at the fifth Iraq Medicare – the largest health care exhibition in Iraq, taking place 26 – 28 May 2014. With an attractive location, the Swedish pavilion will for the first time represent a large number of Swedish companies interested in expanding their business in the health care sector in Iraq.

At the Swedish pavilion, the team from Business Sweden will be dedicated
to promoting Swedish health care products and services as well as acting as a
door opener for Swedish companies interested in enhancing their business within the expanding health care sector in Iraq. Presentations, conferences,
match-making and separate meeting programme to the Ministry of Health in Erbil will be part of the arrangement during the fair, offering participating Swedish companies the opportunity to establish contact with the most important industry players as well as representatives from both the public and private sector within the health care sector. Iraq Medicare started in 2009 and is today the largest health care fair in Iraq with 165 exhibiting companies and
organisations and around 8,000 – 10,000 visitors such as medical professionals, distributors, dealers and suppliers.

Iraq strives to once again become a regional leader in the healthcare sector

To regain its former position in the region, the Iraqi government is financing extensive investments in education, infrastructure and related services. Hence, health care expenditure is steadily increasing. The expenditure for 2014 is expected to reach a value of 6.8 billion, compared to 5.8 billion USD in 2013. The Iraqi Ministry of Health has indicated that high quality medical devices and services are required, which indicates opportunities for health care and advanced education providers. The Swedish brand and quality is well known in Iraq and has been identified as preferential compared to other international brands.

Making Swedish health care systems, products and services well known among key industry players

During the three day fair Swedish companies will be given the opportunity to build on existing contacts as well as creating new ones among local decision makers and buyers in the health care sector in Iraq. The initiative also aims to give the participating Swedish companies the ability to meet with representatives from the private health care sector and potential patients or health care providers who intend to seek quality healthcare abroad. The pavilion will be inaugurated by Deputy Head of Mission, Ms. Jessica Svärdström.
