08 Dec - 10 Dec Myanmar

Health Care Delegation to Myanmar

Business Sweden in collaboration with Swecare Foundation, the Embassy of Sweden in Bangkok and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs invite you to participate in the Swedish Healthcare delegation to Myanmar 8-10 December 2013. The delegation is headed by Director-General for Trade, H.E. Eva Walder.

With the recent political and economic development in Myanmar, the health sector is seeing major changes as more funds are targeting the sector. Private and government expenditures have been increasing proportionally. The government is making a major push to increase health care service by increasing spending; together with multilateral support and individual’s having more disposable income for healthcare expenditure.

The market demand for medical equipment is on the rise as private and governmental hospitals are replacing and upgrading facilities. The hospitals are in need of everything from basic consumables to advanced equipment. The medical device equipment market is supplied by 99% of international imports. In addition, there are only few local pharmaceutical manufacturers in Myanmar which barely meet consumer demand. The market is heavily depending on international companies supplying various drugs.
