The Innovation Forum builds upon the German-Swedish Innovation Partnership that was launched by Angela Merkel and Stefan Löfven in Stockholm in January 2017, and which comprises four focus areas: mobility, digitalisation in SMEs, e-health and test beds.
Germany and Sweden both hold leading automotive industries and can look back on a strong long-term relationship within the industry. As vehicles and the way we use them are transforming and changing the industry, new development areas are opening up, such as connected and autonomous driving, electric vehicles incl. infrastructure, light-weight materials etc. Cooperating across both countries will be key in staying ahead for future competitiveness as well as identifying common views on future regulations.
The purpose of the Innovation Forum is to identify a number of new concrete bilateral innovation projects and hence the aim is to engage parties from both countries in discussing around potential cooperations. To this end, the Innovation Forum provides insights into the latest developments on future mobility in both countries, high-lights current specific innovation projects with potential for bilateral cooperation and engages participants in discussions on concrete cooperations.
