29 May - 31 May Beijing and Shanghai

Seminars in Beijing and Shanghai with the Swedish Minister for the Environment, Lena Ek

What are the environmental challenges in China today? Seminars in Beijing and Shanghai – 29th and 31st of May 2013.

The Swedish Minister for the Environment, Lena Ek, will visit China with the purpose to strengthen the Sino-Swedish relations in the environmental field. In relation to this visit, Business Sweden and the Government Offices of Sweden in cooperation with Ministry of the Environment, the Embassy of Sweden in Beijing and the Consulate General of Sweden in Shanghai will arrange two seminars led by the minister, one in Beijing and one in Shanghai.

China's Twelfth Five-Year plan has a strong emphasis on environmental issues and China has witnessed an increased awareness of environmental concerns. Large investments are made in areas such as reduction of air pollutants, waste management emission control and a more sustainable handling of resources. This makes China an interesting country to do business with for companies involved in environmental and clean technology solutions.

Sweden has a strong brand and is well known for its knowledge and experience of environmental technology. Swedish companies can provide various solutions. China has for a long time sought Swedish cooperation on these issues and there is a great interest for the Swedish Eco-city developments such as Hammarby Sjöstad in Stockholm and Western Harbour in Malmö.

The seminar in Beijing will be held on the 29th and the one in Shanghai on the 31st of May. The topic of the seminars will be to match Swedish environmental solutions with the challenges that China are facing. Swedish companies present in China as well as companies not on the market yet are most welcome to join the seminars. This is a great opportunity for participating companies to make use of the official environment that the Minister's visit provide as well as a good occasion to connect with Chinese actors from both public and private sector. Participating companies are also most welcome to invite their partners to join the seminars and discussions.
