Tanzania is forecasted as one of the ten fastest growing economies in the world according to IMF and is continuously investing to create a better business climate and to further increase growth. The country has extensive plans to develop the energy sector. Thanks to Sweden´s longstanding involvement in Tanzania and the energy sector as well as good relations between Sweden and Tanzania, the Swedish Embassy in Tanzania and Business Sweden have a thorough knowledge of this sector and have been able to identify a number of interesting business opportunities. The objective of the business delegation is to learn more about these opportunities and how to best capture them.
The Energy sector is highly prioritized by the Tanzanian Government, which is now offering financial incentives for companies investing in the sector. The need for expansion in power generation and transmission systems is extensive, and there is a great interest in products and services related to renewable energy, such as biomass, water resources for hydropower, wind, geothermal power and solar energy. In addition, there is potential for development of the natural gas that has been detected outside the Tanzanian coastline. Tanzania’s new Power System Master Plan will be released during the first quarter of 2013. This will also include concrete plans and projects for the development of the energy sector, offering business opportunities for Swedish companies.
The Energy Sector has for many years been in focus for Swedish development aid in Tanzania resulting in unique contacts and well an anchored reputation of Swedish knowledge and experience of the Tanzanian energy market.
The preliminary programme is described on the following page. When finalizing the programme, consideration will be taken to the suggestions given by the participating companies.
We look forward to your early response, no later than March 31st.
