SweHeat & Cooling, the Embassy of Sweden in Beijing / CENTEC, IMT at the Government Offices of Sweden, and Business Sweden will arrange a District Heating Roadshow to Taiyuan in Shanxi province and Xian in Shaanxi province during 12-14 May. The Roadshow will give an excellent opportunity for Swedish companies to present their solutions to key stakeholders in these two cities with strong economic development.
China is the largest district heating (DH) market in the world after the Russian Federation. Between 2003 and 2010, the total coverage area of DH systems expanded from 1.9 billion square meters to 4.4 billion square meters. The demand for heating continues to increase rapidly in parallel with the economic growth and urbanization. Furthermore, advanced integrated solutions of heat recovery, combined cooling, heating and power generation (CCHP) are called for to increase the efficiency of existing and future heat and power plants. In addition, fuel source for heat production is usually coal which generates large amount of carbon emissions with high energy losses.
Sweden as a country has a strong brand and is well known for its capabilities and experience in the field, where Swedish companies are known to provide a variety of technically strong solutions. The key objective of this Roadshow is to provide a forum for Swedish companies to present their products and services to the Chinese authorities and industry.
The Roadshow is jointly organized by SweHeat & Cooling, the Embassy of Sweden in Beijing / CENTEC, IMT at the Government Offices of Sweden and Business Sweden. It is the third time that the organisers arrange a similar activity in China and this time the Roadshow will cover two cities – Taiyuan and Xian:
Taiyuan is the capital city of Shanxi province with a population of 4.3 million. The district heating area covered more than 76 million m2 in 2013, and by 2015 coverage for the entire city is expected to be realized. Taiyuan witnessed a large scale transfer from coal to gas in in 2013 and is planning to phase out the coal fuelled boiler by the end of 2015.
Xian is the capital city of Shaanxi province with a population of 8.5 million. The district heating area covered more than 100 million m2 in 2013, an increase of 36% coverage compared to 2012. Xian is expected to have coal-free district heating system by 2015.
The Swedish delegation will be led by an official from the Embassy of Sweden in Beijing. This will enable proper attention from Chinese City Officials and Local Official decision makers, District Heating companies and Power Utilities, and create a unique opportunity to meet the right people for future business. The Roadshow will give the Swedish companies an opportunity to present their solutions to senior stakeholders from the cities´ administration, heating associations, companies and Universities. It will also give network opportunities to discuss specific business with the Chinese stakeholders.
