Healthcare delegation to Bangladesh

Welcome to participate in a Swedish healthcare delegation to Bangladesh. Swedish Ambassador to Bangladesh H.E Mr. Johan Frisell will lead the delegation, which is organised by the Swedish Embassy in cooperation with Business Sweden.

Over 43 years after independence in 1971 the health system of Bangladesh has gone through a number of reforms and established an extensive health infrastructure in the public and private sectors. Bangladesh has achieved impressive improvements in population health status by achieving MDG 4 by reducing child death before the 2015 target, and rapidly improving on other key indicators including maternal death, immunization coverage, and survival from some infectious diseases including malaria, tuberculosis, and diarrhoea. However, some challenges for the health system remain critical including shortage of trainer personal, need of high tech medical equipment and practices, gap between public spending and out of pocket expenditure among others.

Hence the country has significant healthcare needs and the government are focusing investments through four key actors that define the structure and function of the system: government, private sector, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and donor agencies.  This provides a significant opportunity for doing business with several types of customers in a growing market.

Sweden has through the years developed both cost effective healthcare delivery mechanism and innovative products. If you are a company that can support the growing needs for a sustainable health system this is a unique opportunity for you to enter and expand business in Bangladesh.

The Swedish healthcare delegation to Bangladesh aims to meet with key representatives from the public as well as the private sector. This will open up for you to market your solutions and services to the major healthcare players in Bangladesh. During the visit you will interact with decision-makers, influencers and investors. The Embassy and Business Sweden are also available to support by setting up customised meetings based on your requirements. This will be done as an add-on to the days of the delegation, either prior to/and or after the delegation program.

The delegation will discuss issues such as:

  • Business opportunities for Swedish companies on the Bangladeshi healthcare market – both public and private sector business
  • The Government’s plans for the sector – what are the focus areas today and for the future?
  • The purchasing – what does it look like and how can you take part in it?
  • The regulatory system - what needs regulation and how can approval be got?

Please register your interest and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
