Sweden has some of the most dynamic start-up scenes in Europe. Stockholm for example has brought out more 'unicorns' per capita than any other city after San Francisco. Within the ICT area, the U.S. still is a major player and the U.S. ICT ecosystem is unique in its kind. Business Sweden believes that there is a large potential for Swedish ICT companies in the US market.
Business Sweden’s study on the U.S. ICT market and its potential for Swedish companies “Next Generation Swedish Unicorns – Leveraging ICT Opportunities in the U.S.” is based on plus 50 interviews with investors, ICT company representatives and industry experts, as well as a survey with more than 500 relevant Swedish companies.
Examples of areas highlighted in the study are:
- Market situation in the U.S. ICT industry including the ICT ecosystem and high-tech funding
- Existing and evolving geographical destinations associated with high-tech clusters
- Critical success factors for expansion in the U.S. and the global ICT marketplace
The study will be launched in Stockholm, San Francisco and Austin. In Stockholm, key findings will be presented by Anders Olsson (Office Manager New York, Business Sweden). This will be followed by a panel discussion with Mikael Aamisepp (Investment Promotion Director, Big Green Data), Ulf Lewander (Senior Investment Manager, SEB Venture Capital) and Tobias Sjöqvist (President & CEO, Lexicon Interactive). Helen Rönnholm (Director Regional Export Advisors, Business Sweden) will be moderating the session.
In San Francisco, key findings will be presented at Game Developers Conference by Ann-Sofie Safa (Office Manager San Francisco, Business Sweden), and in Austin it will be presented at South By Southwest by Björn Olofsson (Trade Comissioner U.S., Business Sweden).

"ICT services constitute a major and rapidly growing part of Swedish exports. ICT start-ups are often global from the outset. At Business Sweden we are determined to improve conditions for the international expansion of these companies," says Anders Olsson, Office Manager New York.
