SUPPLYING DISASTER RESILIENCE & RELIEF SOLUTIONS TO MEXICO AND CENTRAL AMERICA

Business Sweden, in collaboration with the Embassy of Sweden and the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, invites you to participate in an official business delegation to Mexico City and Guatemala City in February 2017.

The objective is to meet with multilateral development banks and their implementing partners present in the region. The delegation is headed by the Swedish Minister for Public Administration Ardalan Shekarabi and the visit will be carried out on the 13-17 of February next year. The Minister will be accompanied by high-level representatives from Sweden.

Mexico and Central America are affected every year by natural disasters such as floods, earthquakes, droughts and hurricanes. While increasing the frequency and intensity of severe weather events, climate change also makes communities more vulnerable to the effects of those events by weakening communities and increasing vulnerability. Disaster management and proactive actions towards climate change are therefore a priority of the governments and international aid agencies supporting Mexico and Central America.

MAJOR NEEDS AND EXTENSIVE PROCUREMENT PLANS
Several multilateral organizations as well as bilateral donors prioritize and fund projects to mitigate the effects of climate change and natural disasters in their respective strategies for the region, together with local partners and government stakeholders. Creating an adequate procurement chain of relevant solutions constitutes a significant part of the resilience system, providing opportunities for suppliers to introduce goods and services in different countries within the region. Swedish companies offer a wide range of high quality and innovative products and services with a competitive life-time cost in several sectors, e.g. water and sanitation, transport solutions, health, emergency and relief, construction material and equipment, ICT, food and nutrition and energy solutions.

MAKING SWEDISH SOLUTIONS KNOWN
The delegation will meet both high-level representatives and procurement professionals from multilateral organizations such as World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank and the Central American Bank for Economic Integration, together with their implementing partners at both private and governmental levels. Read more about the programme on the following pages and please confirm your participation as soon as possible but no later than 10 December, 2016, by using the attached registration form.
