You are invited to participate in a delegation to Brazil headed by Mr. Mikael Damberg, Minister for Enterprise and Innovation. The main themes will be innovative solutions for mining and forestry. The delegation is organised by Business Sweden and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in cooperation with the Ministry for Enterprise and Innovation and the Embassy of Sweden in Brasilia.
Brazil is the largest economy in Latin America and a market where Swedish industry has been present since the 1950’s. The long and strong industrial relations between the countries rose to a new level as Saab won a contract to deliver 36 military fighter aircrafts to Brazil between 2019 and 2024. The ambition of the Swedish government is to build on this platform and to broaden the base for co-operation to other important sectors.
Two industries important for both Brazil and Sweden are the mining and forest industry. Swedish suppliers are known to offer innovative and sustainable solutions within these sectors. There are a number of large Brazilian companies that are looking for innovative solutions to increase efficiency and become more sustainable.
Despite slow growth of the economy in 2014, Brazil remains an interesting market within these selected areas. Also the country offers interesting prospects for the coming decade due to investments in infrastructure, expansion of agriculture and the rise of the middle class.
By participating in the delegation, you will be given the opportunity to learn more about the mentioned industry sectors and make valuable contacts within these sectors. We will visit three cities of strategic importance in Latin America; São Paulo, Brasília, and Belo Horizonte. Through meetings with leading mining and pulp and paper companies, the Ministry of Mines and Energy, the development bank BNDES and other high-level representatives and professionals on national and local levels, Swedish companies will have the chance to build a foundation for future business with Latin American players from both the public and private sector.
Please confirm your participation no later than 10 April, 2015.
