Business Sweden and the Swedish Embassy in South Africa are planning an Energy delegation in connection with “Africa Utility Week” in Cape Town. The main purpose of the delegation is to promote Swedish energy solutions and Sweden´s partnership in the “Power Africa” initiative. Meetings with Power Africa representatives and key stakeholders from South Africa and the sub-Saharan region will give a thorough insight into the projects that are planned and the possibilities to be a part of those projects.
Africa Utility Week which will take place in Cape Town11-13 May, is this year expected to include a strong presence of Power Africa representatives from the region as well as buyers from utility companies investing in projects that Power Africa is engaged in. The US Power Africa representatives are eager to involve Swedish stakeholders in the activities and we believe that this is an excellent opportunity to strengthen the partnership - Sweden being the first and so far only partner to the US in the Power Africa initiative.
In addition to the meetings that will be arranged during the visit, the US and Sweden will also have a joint Power Africa pavilion at the Africa Utility Exhibition which this year is expecting 250 exhibitors and 5,000 attendees. This will be a platform for promoting Swedish innovations and solutions within the energy sector as well as showcasing the partnership with the US.
Meetings with key stakeholders from the sub-Saharan region
An important part of this delegation is to facilitate relevant meetings between the Swedish companies in the delegation and key stakeholders from the sub-Saharan Africa region. Meetings will be arranges with Power Africa representatives from the program office (based in South Africa) and the project offices (based in the prioritized markets) in order to gain a better and more concrete understanding of the purpose, future plans and goals of the Power Africa initiative and how Swedish companies can become involved. The program will also include meetings, discussions and networking with ESKOM and regional stakeholders in South Africa as well South African companies. On the last day of the delegation B2B-meetings with requested companies and organizations will take place.
When arranging the program, special attention will be paid to each participan´s business situation and understanding which representatives are important for you to meet in order to promote your business in the African region.
