The SweMex Alliance is a strategic commercial cooperation between prominent Swedish companies present in Mexico, working with products and services for intelligent urbanization. It was founded in June 2017 as a working group, bringing together the expertise and business development capabilities of each company. The focus is set on creating joint turnkey solutions in the “Smart City” market arena that are tailored to local government as well as to private consortia’s project requirements.

The group has already made significant advances within large project opportunities, with expected deployment throughout 2018. In the framework of the October 2017 official visit to Mexico by Ann Linde, Swedish Minister of Commerce, the group presented one of their first collaborative efforts on the market, the Connected Bus. A low-emission and competitive Volvo B8R Euro 6 bus with advanced connectivity solutions from Ericsson and Axis Communications, such as telematics, on-board wifi, mobile payment system and video surveillance. This initiative complements the joint work of electromobility development in Mexico, prefaced by the demonstration of a Volvo electric bus with ABB's fast recharge technology during the C40 global Mayors´ Summit hosted by Mexico City at the end of 2016.

The SweMex Alliance has developed strong relationships with relevant governmental and non-governmental organizations, as well as with local private consortia, in order to collaborate with local actors in the planning and execution of large projects. The Alliance works tactically with these partners to offer all-round solutions by vertical integration, as well as drawing on the benefits of having a local partner and access to important networks and key contacts that facilitate concerted efforts for business development.
