Brazil is one of the countries with the largest availability of water resources in the world. However, most of them are located in the scarcely populated North whilst majority of the population lives in the Southeast and Northeast of the country. Tougher regulations raise concern about conscious use and recycling of water. Industry and public authorities are therefore investing in technology for water treatment and reuse.

In the beginning of 2014, Business Sweden concluded a market analysis including key issues such as analysis of public sector’s decision making process, opportunity mapping within three industrial sectors: steel, pulp & paper and food & beverages, analysis of regulatory requirements, current trends, market drivers and key players.

The scope was defined by a reference group of four Swedish companies, all suppliers of technology for the waste water segment and with interest in the Brazilian market.
