Business Sweden, in cooperation with the Swedish Embassy in Bangkok, will organize a business delegation to Manila, Philippines including a high level visit to the Asian Development Bank, 18-20 February, 2013.
Philippines is a country with a large vitality. Since 25 years back the Philippines has been struggling with large political as well as economical problems but with newly appointed President Aquino things seems to change to the positive side.
The Philippines has managed the global financial crisis in a relatively good way with continued strong growth between 2009 until now due to lower dependence on exports, relatively resilient domestic consumption, large remittances from four- to five-million overseas Filipino workers, and a growing business process outsourcing industry. Other interesting industries are of course infrastructure and mining.
Development Bank (ADB) was founded in 1966 and had $22 billion in approved financing in 2011 as well as more than 2,900 employees from 59 countries.
ADB in partnership with member governments, independent specialists and other financial institutions is focused on delivering projects that create economic and development impact.
Funding projects all over Asia for a total value of over $22 billion in 2011, ADB is one of the region’s largest financiers of energy, intrastate and transport projects (to only mention a few).
